How do you clean Corny keg posts?
Using a keg-safe brewery wash such as PBW, clean each component of the keg. Poppets can be removed from the posts and soaked in brewery wash while you are cleaning the other components. Use a clean cloth and brewery wash to clean the inside and outside of the keg and rinse well.
Are beer Finings necessary?
If you are adding hops to your beer, you may want to consider it. This is because hops leave polyphenols in the beer which can cause a lack of clarity. Finings will work on the polyphenols as per usual. You don’t need them but they really do improve your beer’s mouth feel and all round taste performance.
Do I need to sanitize my Corny keg?
It is always a good idea to clean your keg before use. The fastest and easiest way to do this is to simply fill the keg with a warm solution of StellarClean PBW mixed to the correct dilution.

- Let sit for 10-15 minutes to partially dissolve.
- Heat water to 150-155 °F (I usually do small 5-10 bursts in the microwave.
- Stir and test temp with sanitized thermometer.
- Pour into fermenter or keg.

During fermentation yeast cells and beer proteins largely derived from the malt form a colloidal suspension that appears as a haze. A colloidal suspension forms when very small, charged particles are suspended in a liquid.
