How do Hindu name their babies?

Who will do cradle ceremony?
Brahmins determine an auspicious time for the ceremony, which is conducted either at a temple or at home. Prior to this function, the house is cleaned well to perform some pujas. On the day, the baby is given a bath, clothed and placed in a cradle. Women gather around the cradle to sing traditional songs.
Who will do Namakarana?
Rice grains are spread on a bronze dish or thali, and the father writes the newborn’s name on it with a gold stick. The grandfather or uncle can perform the rituals in the absence of the father. The chosen name is then whispered into the baby’s right ear by the father four times, along with a prayer.
