What descaler does Technivorm recommend?
Technivorm recommends using Urnex’s Dezcal Coffee/Espresso Machine Descaler, so we used it for our descaling process, but it is a good idea to check with the manufacture of your particular machine to see what they suggest. To descale, simply mix the descaler with hot water and fill up the water tank with the mixture.
Should I clean or descale first?
You want to clean before descale so that:
- The descaler can work more effectively by having the scale exposed; not shielded by a deposit of coffee oils and solids.
- Once the scale is detached, you want the machine to be clean enough so that the scale residues can actually be flushed out.
How often should I descale my Technivorm?
According to Nord Coffee, you should descale the Technivorm Moccamaster after every 100 brews. Depending on how much coffee you drink, that means you should be descaling your machine about every three months or so. If you’re noticing limescale buildup, then you can descale your machine earlier than three months.
Is Moccamaster worth the money?
There’s a night-and-day difference in quality between freshly ground coffee and pre-ground coffee. If you care about how your coffee tastes, the Moccamaster is 100% worth the investment. But as long as I don’t have to heat the water myself, I consider all coffee machines easy enough to use.
What is so special about Moccamaster?
A unique feature of the Technivorm Moccamaster is that it has a dual-coil copper heating component that is similar to that of an espresso machine. Copper is a metal that’s not only durable, but it’s also an excellent conductor that quickly heats your water to the correct temperature.
