Over the past few years, we’ve received thousands of requests and inquiries from the Glossika community asking to join the content development process, so here it is: introducing Viva, a language learning content development platform for anyone who’d like to make an impact in language education.

Is Glossika any good?
Glossika is a helpful tool if you want to gain confidence in speaking and listening in more than 70 different languages. Unfortunately, system glitches, boring lessons, and mistranslations all defined my experience with Glossika.

Is Glossika good for beginners?
Glossika starts around a lower intermediate level. If you tried to use Glossika as a beginner, you would almost certainly find yourself very frustrated as the content would be too difficult to get much use out of. Glossika might be a pretty reasonable resource to use after Pimsleur.
How long does it take to finish Glossika?
Given that the average language course on Glossika involves around 3000 sentences, and that you learn 20 new phrases per day (taking 30-60 mins), then it’ll take roughly 150 days to cover all the phrases. Realistically, you are looking at around a year of consistent use for a decent level of fluency.
Is Glossika worth the money?
Perhaps you could find enough value in using it strenuously for a couple of months if you’ve struggled to find the motivation to practice speaking the language you’re learning. Polyglots may find value in using Glossika long-term, but for anyone else, $300 for a year is just too much.

Why does Glossika work?
Glossika brings up sentences over and over and over, forcing you to learn them through repetition. It even has an option to let you record yourself (but I don’t do that). Thirdly, Glossika spaces repetitions. Glossika intelligently spaces repetitions so that you memorise the structures and words over time.
What are the best things about glossika?
The best part is that you can learn any language using any language. This is wonderful in an age where most language resources are in English.
